The City of Northfield is recruiting for a full-time Chief of Police. Northfield is a vibrant, two-college community located on the southern edge of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area and is well known for its educational excellence, historic character, large manufacturers, and charming downtown. The position reports to the City Administrator and is responsible for leading a progressive police department with 26 sworn officers, and 6 civilian staff.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
Requires an advanced degree equivalent to the bachelor’s level in Criminal Justice, Police Science, or a related field, with eight to nine years progressively responsible law enforcement experience, which includes at least five years previous management/administrative experience or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered. Preferred Qualifications:
Minnesota Peace Officers Standard and Training License (P.O.S.T.) required and preferred at time of hire but acceptable within 60 days of hire. Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science, or a related field. Police executive training course, FBI NA, Northwestern SPSC or equivalent.
