Job Brief

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager or the Maintenance Lead Person, the Maintenance Mechanic maintains the quality performance of production, auxiliary and repairs equipment to enhance an efficient and safe plant operation.

JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Note: The job functions relate to the job, not the individual)
  • Provide timely response of all trouble calls. Diagnose and remedy problems as requested. Document tasks completed.
  • Repair and replace equipment and apparatus in an efficient, sanitary, and safe manner. Document tasks completed and time required.
  • Perform preventative maintenance work and document tasks completed, time to complete, and any deficiencies found.
  • Perform greasing and oiling of machinery.
  • Perform daily checks on air compressors.
  • Make daily adjustments as needed.
  • Perform maintenance on forklifts as needed.
  • Perform maintenance in the Waste Water Pre-Treatment Plant.
  • Will be required to do others daily duties in their absence.
  • Perform start-up and shutdown of equipment, involving the energizing and de-energizing of equipment.
  • Perform bench repairs in a timely manner, but, not to preclude responding to trouble calls or performing preventative maintenance tasks. Operate power tools, hand tools, welding, and cutting equipment or man lifts when required.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly fashion and to conform to all quality and safety regulations.
  • Report all unsafe operating conditions, practices, and personnel. Accountable for providing complete and accurate daily maintenance work reports.
  • Follow written or verbal instructions in performing assigned maintenance tasks. Maintenance tasks may include building repairs, metal fabrication, and cement and tile work when needed.
  • Daily housekeeping as needed.
JOB DUTIES/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS (Not fundamental job duties)
  • Perform sweeping, mopping, and general clean up.
  • Provide breaks to machine operators.
  • Requisition parts as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Requires education as normally acquired in a technical school, or equivalent experience.
  • Good communication skills and willingness to train and share information with coworkers.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be available to varying workloads, emergency call-ins, and for travel to technical schools.
  • Exposed to damp, noisy areas, air conditioning, changing climate conditions, both inside and outside.
  • Requires the ability to lift 50 pounds on a daily basis.
  • Must supply own tools and toolbox.
  • Must be willing to get a State of MN Boiler License within 90 days.

X Required: describe: Full face shield, rubber elbow-length gloves, and full rain suite are all required when working with acid. LOTO equipment. Safety glasses, ear plugs, impact resistant and slip resistant footwear and other PPE as outlined in the company safety policies.
