Wenger Corporation is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team in Owatonna, MN. As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will contribute to Wenger Corporation's strategy to provide an exceptional customer experience by providing technical support in quality engineering around part inspection and metrology, control of non-conforming material, resolution of quality issues, and product team support.

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • A Technical degree in related areas (quality assurance, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering) or ASQC Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is strongly preferred, or minimum three plus (3+) years of quality assurance or related manufacturing experience in lieu of a degree
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skills in the use of inspection/measurement/test equipment/metrology
  • Demonstrated ability to read/interpret blueprints
  • Math/statistical background with a strong numbers aptitude

What you will do on a typical day:

  • Perform data collection, statistical analysis, report generation, and supplier trip reports
  • Represent the Quality Assurance department in Product Development Teams and Quality/Productivity Teams
  • Maintain non-conforming material database entries and cost analysis for assigned suppliers
  • Initiate and maintain inspection procedures internally and with suppliers as needed
  • Support First Article processing and inspection for new supplier, parts, or substantive changes
  • Review ECOs/drawings prior to release on assigned product groups
  • Provide training of other team members in statistical methods, quality improvement tools, and metrology
  • Provide leadership and support to the Receiving/Quality department as necessary
  • Recommend new methods to increase efficiency or new equipment for either inspection or production at suppliers
  • Develop and help source necessary inspection tools, equipment, and fixtures
  • Support daily continuous process improvement and Lean initiatives by maintaining Gemba board metrics, gathering and analyzing data to identify and lead improvements in their areas of responsibility
  • Assist with global supplier selection, analysis, evaluation, performance metrics, and development
  • Travel to foreign suppliers 2-4 times annually to support processes, quality improvement, and product reviews
  • Support the global procurement team during off-hours as needed
