Job Description

Summary:

Provides production training and support to the Applied Air Handling (AAH) facilities for new and existing employees. Duties include classroom and hands-on training, TWI-JI training and training evaluation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Confers with management and quality staff to determine training objectives. Coordinates and standardizes punch shear metal forming requirements across Daikin sites.
  • Uses the ADDIE & BEM (Models) and TWI-JI to create training programs, including writing outlines, handouts, and tests, and designing hands-on exercises.
  • Schedules classes based on skills requirements, and classroom and student availability. Works collaboratively with the local management team to coordinate training. Responsible for maintaining inventory of punch shear tools and materials needed for dojo.
  • Provides classroom and hands-on punch shear training to new and transfer employees.
  • Oversees hands-on-training, personally demonstrate procedures being taught. Observes trainees in dojo, provides coaching and answers trainees' questions.
  • Administers written and practical exams to measure employees theoretical learning and evaluates trainees' learning transfer through hands-on/demonstrative activities. Provides appropriate feedback during training and validates wiring and assembly skills.
  • Works with location management regarding trainees who have not successfully obtained the punch shear skills and knowledge required to form parts for HVAC units. Provides remedial training as appropriate.
  • Ensures that training records and files are maintained appropriately. Conducts annual training file audits. Provides feedback to location management and ensures that corrective actions are taken if needed.
  • Conducts regular audits of punch shear practices on shop floor to ensure that training has transferred from the classroom to the floor and that employees are using appropriate techniques and sustaining newly learned skills. Provides feedback on audits to employees and reports to management team regarding audit results.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of punch shear training, and if necessary, revises programs.
  • Ensures that 5S principles are followed in the dojo training area, serving as a model for the rest of the plant.
  • Participates in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to obtain information useful to training facility and integrates information into training program.
  • Assists with Kaizen teams and special projects to reduce punch shear related defects as direct by manager.
  • Continually works to improve their own subject matter skills and knowledge, skills and knowledge related to training, and skills and knowledge around the Production of Daikin System (PDS) and Quality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2-year technical or associate degree preferred.
