Community Outreach to People with Disabilities

Emerging as an effective task force, our mission has been joined and enhanced by other community citizens of dedication and skill, many of whom have generously participated in various critical activities of our organization.

Community Connections Partnership, established in 1986, is a non-profit organization serving individuals with disabilities. CCP was instrumental in helping people transition from restrictive, institutional settings to an inclusive, community-based lifestyle. Currently, CCP serves over 185 individuals from the seven-county Twin Cities metro area. CCP’s philosophy has always been to provide positive, meaningful services which allow individual’s to use their skills and to be able to choose and find what they would like to do.

The mission of Courage Center, a not-for-profit rehabilitation organization, is to empower people with physical disabilities to reach for their full potential in every aspect of life. We are guided by the vision that one day, all people will live, work, learn and play in a community based on abilities not disabilities.

It is the mission of the Down Syndrome Association of Minnesota to provide information, resources and support to individuals with Down syndrome, their families and their communities.

At Independence Center Inc., our Mission is "creating opportunities for people with special needs." This is accomplished by helping the participants achieve individual goals that are identified specifically for each person. Over the past thirty years, the program has been modified to accommodate persons with high medical needs as well as persons seeking educational and therapeutic services.

Kaposia, inc. seeks to enhance the community and each individual through finding people with disabilities meaningful employment at competitive wages, providing employers with competent, motivated and committed employees, and offering retired workers who may be disabled with a way to stay vital and active in the community.

Lifeworks is a nonprofit organization that helps people with disabilities live fuller lives that are integrated into the flow of community experience. Through employment at area businesses, social enrichment opportunities, and customized support services, Lifeworks provides the tools clients need to build the lives they want to live. For more than 40 years, we have collaborated with employers, volunteers, and government agencies to create expanded opportunities for people with disabilities.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) is the state's principal economic development agency, with programs promoting business recruitment, expansion, and retention; workforce development; international trade; and community development. The agency's mission is to support the economic success of individuals, businesses, and communities by improving opportunities for growth. DEED's organizational structure is aligned with its mission.

The National MS Society is a collective of passionate individuals who want to do something about MS now—to move together toward a world free of multiple sclerosis. MS stops people from moving. We exist to make sure it doesn't. We help each person address the challenges of living with MS through our 50-state network of chapters. The Society helps people affected by MS by funding cutting-edge research, driving change through advocacy, facilitating professional education, and providing programs and services that help people with MS and their families move their lives forward.

Placement Partners, working in cooperation with employers and rehabilitation organizations, is committed to diligently pursuing positive vocational outcomes for persons with disabilities and others who encounter barriers to achieving successful employment within our community. Effective vocational strategies, advocacy for inclusion within the workplace and excellence in the delivery of person-centered services comprising vocational assessment, placement, on -site training, coaching and job retention shall be the standard by which we are measured.
