SUMMARY
Sell parts to customers by phone, over the counter, or service and body shop.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Service
1. Assists customers (retail, wholesale, service and shop) with the selection of parts in a friendly,
professional, and efficient manner providing a high level of customer service. Receives payment from
retail customers or obtains credit authorization.
2. Informs customers of companion part requirements and specials; ensures the customer is
exposed to the full product line.
3. Answers phone calls promptly, provides price quotes and other information as necessary.
Department/Team
1. Reviews body shop estimates to ensure accurate parts orders and pricing is in line
with the estimate.
2. List and price parts and sublet repair orders for both repair orders and counter tickets.
3. Replenishes assigned inventory daily and keeps displays stocked and clean.
4. Keeps orderly records of all repair orders, invoices, insurance estimates, and special order parts, while
ensuring all internal requests for parts are billed on service repair order (RO).
5. Stages orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up and assists parts runner to ensure correct
parts are delivered.
6. Keeps current on new products and product updates.
7. Records all lost sales through the computer system for management review.
Inventory Control
1. Keeps Parts Manager notified of out-of-stock parts; shop materials or problem parts
involving the manufacturer.
2. Locates out-of-stock parts from outside source; submits an emergency order and notifies the service
advisor, technician, body shop and/or customer when special order parts are available.
3. Issues credit for returned parts; ensures original invoice or its number; verifies purchase and pricing.
4. Organizes and packs obsolete parts to be shipped back to manufacturer, if necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. One year certificate from college or technical school; OR three to six months parts automotive related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and intermediate level computer skills
in Microsoft Office, ADP dealer or related programs and EPC.
3. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common
fractions and decimals.
4. Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
5. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
6. Must be at least 18 years of age; with valid driver’s license that meets company standards;
may be required to drive company or customer vehicles
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Regularly required to talk or hear, walk, reach with hands; arms and use hands to finger, handle, or
Feel; frequently required to stand, sit, stoop, kneel and crouch.
2. Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
3. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision,
peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
1. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals, moving mechanical
parts and outside weather conditions.
2. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
