Job Title: Floor Director Location: Eden Prairie, MN Department: Media Group Reports to: Production Manager
Position Overview:
Cue on air talent. Move cameras from set to set and studio to studio. Must be able to understand camera blocking or placement. Will check studio lighting at least 30 minutes to set being on air, insuring that there are no lights that are out and making sure the hosts are in proper lighting. Will check the microphones of all talent prior to going on air. This is a Part-time position.
Success Attributes:
Must possess clear communication skills and demonstrate leadership ability. The job requires attention to detail, clear organizational skills, problem solving skills and the ability to work in a team environment. Working knowledge of all studio lighting circuitry and subsequent back-up power supplies and procedures, including replacement of lighting units and filament replacement. Knowledge of current and newly designated camera positions (spikes) in all 4 major studios. Mastery of camera power cable procedures for robotic and manual control studio cameras, jib/crane camera, and hand-held camera operations, including up-keep and care of cables and cameras when not is use, and cable-patching between studios. Knowledge of white-balance and color correction procedures for any and all camera operations.
Essential Functions:
Principal Accountabilities & Authority: Responsible for maintaining current inventory of crew headset units and allocation. Responsible for guest and host lavaliere microphone and IFB unit designation and trouble-shooting, including proper placement of said units on guests. Responsible for computer monitor and television monitor upkeep in all 4 major studios, including accessing company-wide vvnet access. Responsible for informative dialogue between production department and guests/models, including answering all questions pertaining to show execution, set designation, and guest requests during, before, and after show commences. Responsible for maintaining leadership and supervision to floor crew including Visuals Stylists, Freelance, and Camera Operators. Responsible for upkeep and care of cameras during and after physical movement from studio to studio. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Associate’s degree (A.A.), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: Television production or related work experience.
Physical Activity: Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees. Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine. Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time. Keying: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm, as in handling. Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with the skin, particularly that of the fingertips. Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion. Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers. Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken work. Those activities, which demand detailed or important instructions spoken to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly. Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40-db loss. Ability to receive oral communication and make fine discriminations in sound.
Visual Demands: Operators: This is a minimum standard for those whose job requires work done at close visual range. (i.e. preparing and analyzing data and figures, clerical and administrative functions, accounting, computer terminal use, extensive reading, visual inspection, operation of machines, using measurement devices, assembly or fabrication of parts.
Physical Requirements: Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects Conditions: Individual is subject to outside environmental conditions: No effective protection from weather.
